Day 1 : Arrival in Pilibhit
Morning :
- Arrive at Pilibhit, either via road from Lucknow or Bareilly, or by train.
- Check in at your lodge near Pilibhit Tiger Reserve and settle in.
- Enjoy lunch at the lodge and take some time to relax or explore the property.
Afternoon :
- Safari 1 (Mala Range): Begin your wildlife experience with an afternoon safari in the Mala range of Pilibhit, known for its dense forest cover and rich biodiversity. Look out for tigers, leopards, sloth bears, and a variety of deer species.
- Return to the lodge for dinner and a relaxed evening.
Day 2 : Morning & Afternoon Safaris in Pilibhit
Morning :
- Safari 2 (Haripur Range): Head out for an early morning safari in the Haripur range. This zone offers good chances of spotting wildlife near water bodies, as well as a variety of bird species. Pilibhit is also known for its rich tiger population and wetlands.
- Return to the lodge for breakfast and some rest.
Afternoon :
- Safari 3 (Deoria Range): In the afternoon, explore the Deoria range. This area offers a different landscape, with grasslands and dense forests. It’s a great opportunity to spot wild boars, tigers, and elephants.
- Return to the lodge for dinner and an evening of relaxation.
Day 3 : Transfer to Dudhwa & Afternoon Safari
Morning :
- After breakfast, check out and drive to Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (approximately 3 to 3.5 hours by road).
- Arrive at your lodge in Dudhwa, check-in, and freshen up.
Afternoon :
- Safari 4 (Dudhwa Zone): Start your Dudhwa experience with an afternoon safari in the core Dudhwa zone. This area is known for its grasslands and wetlands, home to tigers, swamp deer (barasingha), and rhinos.
- Return to the lodge for dinner and an evening to unwind.
Day 4 : Safaris in Dudhwa & Leisure
Morning :
- Safari 5 (Dudhwa Zone): Embark on an early morning safari, when wildlife activity is at its peak. Dudhwa’s mix of grasslands, swamps, and forests make for an exciting safari, with chances to see tigers, leopards, elephants, and a wide variety of birdlife.
- Return to the lodge for breakfast.
Afternoon :
- After lunch, spend some time relaxing at the lodge, or visit nearby attractions like the Tharu Tribal Villages to learn about the local culture.
Evening :
- Safari 6 (Kishanpur Zone): Head out for an afternoon safari in the Kishanpur zone, known for its expansive grasslands and water bodies. This area is great for spotting rhinos, swamp deer, and a variety of bird species.
- Return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 5 : Morning Safari & Departure
Morning :
- Safari 7 (Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary): Enjoy an early morning safari in Katarniaghat, an important part of the Dudhwa landscape. This sanctuary is known for its gharials, Gangetic dolphins, and tigers. The riverine habitat and rich wildlife make it a unique experience.
- Return to the lodge for breakfast and check out.
Afternoon :
- Drive back to your preferred destination (Lucknow/Bareilly) or catch a train for your onward journey.
Additional Tips :
- Safari Timing: Morning safaris typically begin around 6:00 AM and last until 10:00 AM. Afternoon safaris usually start around 3:00 PM and end around 6:00 PM.
- What to Pack: Bring appropriate clothing for safaris, including layers for chilly mornings and light clothes for warmer afternoons. Don’t forget a camera, binoculars, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and comfortable shoes.
